About Me

I had never heard of brown marmorated stink bugs until 2008, when they infested my sister-in-law's home. No matter what she did to try to stop them, nothing worked. Today, they still find ways into her house and swarm all over her property.

Eventually, more friends and family started noticing them, throughout the northeast and mid-Atlantic. When I first noticed a few around our house, I got scared.

The more I learned about them, the scarier they got. I couldn't believe that there wasn't a simple, cure-all, easy solution. There also wasn't a central place for people fighting stink bugs to share their experiences, and information was scattered all over the Web.

That's why I started stopstinkbugs.com; to be a central source for stink bug information, and to rally victims to share their experiences. My goal for the site is to help raise awareness and urgency, provide an open forum for people to discuss solutions, and to help light a fire under research efforts to combat stink bugs.

Brown marmorated stink bugs are a very formidable enemy, but humans are a creative, problem-solving species. Please join our online community, and let's put our heads together to find a way to eradicate stink bugs from our homes and farms forever.

Thanks for the video..luckily my car problem is not that bad..knock on wood...so disgusting! I love my car and hope I don't have to sell but I don't see how they can fix it being as though the things are attracted to each others smell it seems as though they will keep coming back...i am still not sure where to have the mechanics check though..i know they were in the cabin air filters but i have read that people said they were also in the door frames and in the heating and cooling system..so would they have to take the door apart?!?!?! and how would they get into the AC and Heat:? I am so confused and overwhelmed with this problem... :-(

The blog looks good! Late spring and summer is the time to get this done. Too many people wait until fall, when the SB's are already moving back into the house. That's a big mistake and you'll have a harder time finding someone to deal with it.

Hello John,

I am a fellow SB hater and am proactive in my quest to cure this dilemma. I am sick and tired of those so called 'experts' that say there is nothing you can do and you will just have to live with them. I refuse to capitulate. For now I just caulk, tape seal and spray insecticide on my siding outside. I only use a microencapsulated formula such as Demand CS and pyrethrin dust in the attic...It seems to be working. But the numbers are growing larger because I am seeing them in areas that I did not only a year ago. I know I cant stop them from landing on my house but I want to make sure that they die at the door should they want to come in. For your information, I have corresponded with Dr. Jeffrey Aldrich who works with invasive species in Beltsville MD. He currently has an attractant pheromone and a potential trap for them. But he indicated to me that he needs industrial and government support to fund the production of the chemical and mass produce the traps. Another person there is Dr. Kim Hoelmer who sent his grad students to China to study these bugs. They have in isolation some biological agents that may sometime be released to control them. Lets give them our support and get this message out so we can become SB free. In the meantime its chemicals and caulking that will make a difference...Thanks for setting up this site
